ApplauseHotels · Port Harcourt

The hotel

Comfort, kept simple.

Applause Hotels sits on a walled plot on Federal Housing in Rumuodomaya, on the Obio/Akpor side of Port Harcourt. Two floors of rooms, a dining room, a bar pavilion, and a courtyard that does most of the work once the heat drops.

What we are actually for.

Most of the people who stay here came to Port Harcourt to do something — a contract, a meeting, a family obligation, a journey that broke here. They are not looking for a destination. They are looking for somewhere that works.

So that is what we built. The rooms are unfussy and properly kept. The power stays on. The water is hot. The compound is secure and you can park inside the gate. When you come down in the morning there is somewhere to eat, and when you get back in the evening there is somewhere to sit outside.

We would rather be the hotel you quietly rely on than the one you photograph.

How we run it

Three things we do not compromise on.

  1. 01

    Kept, not decorated

A room that is clean, cool and quiet beats a room that is merely new. We spend our money on upkeep — linen, plumbing, air conditioning, power — because that is what a guest actually feels at one in the morning.

  2. 02

    Someone always answers

The desk is staffed around the clock and the phone number on this site rings a person, not a queue. If something is wrong at three in the morning, there is somebody to tell.

  3. 03

    Secure and lit

The compound is walled, gated and lit through the night, with parking inside the gate. Guests arriving late into Port Harcourt should not have to think about it.

Come and see.
