ApplauseHotels · Port Harcourt
Applause Hotels at dusk, its green roofline and forecourt lit warm against a deep blue sky

Rumuodomaya · Port Harcourt

Somewhere to put
the day down.

Four room types, a courtyard that cools off after dark, and a front desk that picks up. Rooms from ₦15,000 a night.

The house

Built for the traveller who has somewhere to be in the morning.

Applause sits on a quiet plot off Federal Housing, ten minutes from the places most of our guests are actually going. The rooms are simple and properly kept. The generator runs. The air conditioning works.

We are not trying to be a resort. We are trying to be the place you are glad you picked at eleven at night, and glad again at six in the morning — clean sheets, a working desk, hot water, and somebody at the desk who knows where you are trying to get to.

Outside

The courtyard is the best room in the house.

Paved, planted, and shaded by Norfolk pines that have been here longer than we have. When the heat drops, this is where everyone ends up.

The dining room, laid with glass-topped tables and lit by pendant lamps

Eating and drinking

Breakfast indoors. Everything else under the trees.

There is a dining room for the mornings and a bar pavilion for the evenings, and most guests work out within a day which one they prefer.

Kitchen and bar hours change with the season — call ahead on +234 813 535 7533 and reception will tell you what is running.
